About the Authors

Ken Mackie was a Senior Lecturer in law and Sub-Dean at the Law School, University of Tasmania. He was also a consultant to the Tasmanian Law Reform Institute on succession law issues and was a member of the former National Committee on Uniform Succession Laws. His main research interests are property law and succession. He is now a University Associate in the Faculty of Law, University of Tasmania.

Elise Bennett Histed took her B.A. and LL.B. degrees from the University of Melbourne and read for her doctorate at Cambridge University. She taught law at Sheffield University, and then returned to Australia to teach as a Senior Lecturer in Law at Monash University and the University of Tasmania. Her specialities are Legal History, Succession, Property Law and Equity.
